Chain-link fences upset Massachusetts residents

Posted on December 19th, 2011 No Comments

Newly built chain-link fences in Weymouth, Massachusetts have been met with much criticism from residents of the area.

The fences were constructed near neighborhoods and local businesses, including a Colonial Federal Bank. People living in the neighborhood have voiced complaints claiming that the fences make the area look too industrial.

James Murphy, the Democratic state representative, has reported several concerns about the fences and would like the fencing issue of Weymouth to be reviewed. According to residents, more aesthetically pleasing fences would add charm and appeal to the area while still being functional.

How to choose the right kind of fence

Posted on November 16th, 2011 No Comments

There are plenty of options when it comes to installing a residential fence. Depending on the type of fence you are interested in and the amount of money you are willing to spend, you can determine what is the best fence for your situation.

The four main types of fencing include; wood, chain link, iron and vinyl. If you are looking for a material that can last a long time, then iron may be right for you. Iron may cost more but you will get your money’s worth based on the longevity of the material.

Wood fences are a good option for durability as well and, if treated properly, can last up to 20 years. Chain link fences are becoming more mainstream due to their low cost and high resistance. Vinyl fencing can be installed relatively easy and requires no maintenance to maintain it’s allure.

Fruit trees thrive on wood fences

Posted on November 11th, 2011 No Comments

Wood fences commonly found surrounding a homemade garden can be beneficial for growing fruit. These wood planks can act as a support system to the fruit trees.

Heavy wires assembled in a row are the best option for attaching the trees to the fencing. By fastening these trees to fencing it makes it easier to gather the fruit and keep it out of reach from birds. Regular watering is necessary for these trees to thrive.

Three separate trees work best for planting against wood fencing. These trees include; espaliers, cordons and fans. Each have a different characteristic that works well with the fence which acts as a wall.
